Areas of Studies

Humanities - Language, Literature and Societies

At Allegiance Academy, we use the subject of Humanities to teach language, literature, society and government in an interdisciplinary approach.  This allows students to strengthen their reading and writing skills, while also developing a deeper connection to human history and societies.  Through this model, students will be able to make connections between the past and present through research, forging a path for them to better understand what the future will bring.

STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math

Mathematics is the original and universal language, and having a strong foundation in math will set students up for success in science, technology, and engineering.  Students will build their conceptual understanding in Science Technology and Engineering by integrating the core math principles.  Allegiance Academy will use STEMscopes, which is an integrated curriculum designed to develop skills and understanding of mathematical concepts, so that they can develop a deeper understanding of the physical and chemical sciences, and see how math interacts in a real-world context.

Fine Arts - Art and Music

Students participate in art and music.  Students will develop an appreciation for the arts through participating in one visual and one performing art class each semester.  Involvement in arts allows students to understand the arts in context and the cultural history of artworks, supporting the development of an inquiring and empathetic world view.  They will be challenged to create personal works of art that represent their identity and build awareness of the aesthetic in a real-world context.

Computer Science

Computers have forever changed the way humans interact with the world and one another.  At Allegiance Academy, we view having a foundational knowledge of computers as a key skill for students to obtain.  The students will have an opportunity to generate a baseline knowledge in computers, software, hardware and the internet.  Through a partnership with University of Dallas, students will be able to learn about computers through practical experience, including coding of a website, creation of computer games, and general historical knowledge.  Students will build models and prototypes, and evaluate their designs, and will apply practical and creative skills to create authentic digital products and analyze their effectiveness.

Foreign Languages

Learning to communicate in more than one language develops respect and cultural awareness as well as a deepened understanding of the native language.  As students acquire a second language, they will develop an appreciation for diverse communities and an understanding of ways people live and view the world.  Upon entering into our program, we assess students' linguistic ability.   Students will then be placed into the appropriate foreign language course: emergent, capable and proficient.  We offer Spanish which is one of the top essential languages in the world.

Physical and Health Education

While soccer will be taught daily, physical and health education will also be provided.  This course will seek to develop a lifetime of healthy habits and healthy living through an understanding of the human body.  Students will learn about fitness, training principles, nutrition, and exercise physiology for optimal performance that they will carry with them long after their competitive soccer playing days.
